Milan-Empoli, the probable formations

Milan take the field against Empoli at 3 p.m. Stefano Pioli’s team, currently third in the standings just one point behind the second place occupied by Juventus, is preparing to face a team in good shape, regenerated under Nicola’s guidance even if it has just come back from its first home defeat against Cagliari during the new coach’s tenure.

Pioli will have to do without Florenzi and, most importantly, Leao, both disqualified. They will be replaced by Calabria and Okafor. For the rest, a ballot between Thiaw and Tomori to flank Gabbia in defense is expected, while Bennacer will be deployed in front of the defense alongside Adli.

In attack, è a massive turnover is expected: in addition to Okafor, Chukwueze could get a new opportunity from the start on the right, with Jovic taking Giroud’s place as a starter and Loftus-Cheek confirmed. As for Empoli, Caputo will make his return after a long injury, although he will start from the bench. Moreover, it will be the first time that the former Niang will play as a starter in the Azzurri shirt, flanking Cambiaghi.

Probable Milan lineup (4-2-3-1): Maignan; Calabria, Tomori, Gabbia, Theo Hernandez; Bennacer, Adli; Chukwueze, Loftus Cheek, Okafor; Jovic. All. Pioli.
Probable Empoli lineup (3-5-2): Caprile; Walukiewicz, Ismajli, Luperto; Gyasi, Zurkowski, Marin, Maleh, Cacace; Cambiaghi, Niang. All. Nicola.
