Ferrari, Charles Leclerc has clear ideas ahead of Melbourne. And Oliver Bearman turns in Fiorano
His seventh place in Jeddah, in last Saturday’s Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, impressed everyone, but Oliver Bearman, an 18-year-old British driver who is Ferrari’s third and youngest driver to drive a Maranello single-seater in a rainbow Grand Prix, is not stopping and this morning he lapped at Fiorano at the wheel of an F1-75, the Cavallino’s first ground-effect car after its reintroduction in 2022.
Tomorrow it should be Antonio Giovinazzi’s turn, but Bearman’s test today was already scheduled for some time and on will be the only one, so that he will always be ready to take the place, successfully, of a starter, as was the case last race weekend, when it was Carlos Sainz who had to forfeit due to appendicitis surgery.
Meanwhile, Charles Leclerc spoke about the situation of the SF-24 ahead of the next race weekend, that of the Australian Grand Prix at the Albert Park circuit in Melbourne, scheduled for next week. Here are the words of the Monegasque reported by the Italian version of motorsport.com.
"We are taking small steps in the right direction. The gap from Red Bull è still considerable, but if we keep working like this, I’m sure it will only be a matter of time before we put Red Bull under more pressure. I don’t think we will have a lot of news about the car in Melbourne, so at the moment we will just have to maximize our current package. At the moment our situation è this is it. I think we’ll have to wait and see when we get new components on the single-seater and what kind of step forward we’ll make. Hopefully this will bring us closer to Red Bull".
"Right now Red Bull has on average 3-4 tenths on us. And in Formula 1 3 or 4 tenths is a lot in the world of motorsport. However, if you consider each component of the single-seater, if the gain è of 1 cent per piece, then è easy to gain right away. In the last few months we are the team that has improved the most; because é we have worked very well and we have to continue to do so. È very clear what areas we need to work on. I am sure that our time will come. I don't know what Red Bull has in store in terms of upgrades, but that will define when we will be able to match them”.
