Milan to Youth League Final Four

For the second year in a row, Milan Primavera gained access to the Final Four of the Youth League, the counterpart for Under-19 teams of the Champions League. The Rossoneri team, coached by Ignazio Abate, defeated Real Madrid on penalties, in the match played Wednesday at the Vismara Sports Center, after regulation time ended on a 1-1 scoreline.

The Blancos’ youth team had taken the lead, with a penalty kick converted by Gonzalo at 33', but Diego Sia è was able to put things back on track at minute 51, rebalancing a match that beyond the triple whistle did not see any other scoring on the scoreboard, neither on one side nor the other.

Penalty kicks saw Perea, Palacios and Gonzalo score for Real, while Yanez and Fortuny missed their shots from the penalty spot. On the other hand, Bartesaghi, Simic, Simmelhack and Zeroli scored for Milan, with the latter's penalty shot sealing the score at 4-3 making Scotti's mistake in the previous round irrelevant.

With access to the Final Four, which will be played in Nyon, Switzerland from April 19 to 22, AC Milan sets a record for Italian soccer: in fact, it is the first club from the Bel Paese to qualify twice in a row for the competition. The ambition è is to do better than last year, where right in the semifinals Hajduk Split broke the Rossoneri’s dream, winning 3-1 before being in turn overwhelmed by AZ (0-5) in the final.
