United States, Serbia and South Sudan. Should Italy qualify for the Olympic Games in Paris (July 27/August 10), these will be the opponents in the group in Lille (from the Quarterfinals will be played in Paris Bercy). È this is the’outcome of the draw made this evening by FIBA in Mies, Switzerland.

The Azzurri will try to get a pass to the Olympics from July 2-7 in San Juan, Capital of Puerto Rico. They make their debut on July 2 against Bahrain and challenge the hosts Puerto Rico on July 4. In case of finishing in the top two places, cross semifinal with the group consisting of Lithuania, Mexico and Ivory Coast on July 6. Final on July 7.

Twelve teams are participating in the Olympic Games. In addition to France, the host country, Germany (World Champion), Serbia (Vice World Champion), the U.S. and Canada (America), Australia (Oceania), Japan (Asia) and South Sudan (Africa) have qualified through the World 2023.

The remaining four teams will come from the four Pre-Olympic tournaments in San Juan, Valencia (Group A: Lebanon, Angola, Spain; Group B: Finland, Poland, Bahamas), Riga (Group A: Georgia, Philippines, Latvia; Group B: Brazil, Cameroon, Montenegro), Piraeus (Group A: Slovenia, New Zealand, Croatia; Group B: Egypt, Greece, Dominican Republic).

The formula: the top two finishers in each group and the two best thirds qualify for the Quarterfinals.
