F1 Australian GP: Charles Leclerc dominates free practice 2
Ferrari in great flush, Hamilton in great difficulty;
After Free Practice 1, with the best time set by Norris, space was given to the second free practice session in Melbourne, home of the Australian GP. The best time was set by Leclerc: 1'17"277 was the Monegasque who took the satisfaction of putting himself behind Verstappen. The three-time World Champion è placed second about four tenths behind (1'17"658).
Also smiling is the other Ferrarista. Sainz, back from a forced stop due to surgery (appendicitis), first finished eighth in Free Practice 1 and then improved considerably in Free Practice 2, closing with the third best time of the entire session (1'17"707"). Good responses from Aston Martin with Stroll fourth and Alonso, in great difficulty in the first session (changed the bottom for an exit on the gravel), fifth.
Hamilton largely disappoints. The seven-time World Champion did not particularly shine, so much so that he ended the second free practice with a mediocre 18° time (1'18"834). Hamilton struggled to find the right set-up. It should be noted that Albon, who ended up at the wall in free practice 1, did not è take to the track in free practice 2 as Williams mechanics did not make it in time to complete repairs.
