F1, Red Bull spied by Ferrari: "We have to understand what è happened"
Bad setback for Red Bull: after two consecutive victories, the Austrian team experienced a weekend to forget in Melbourne, which saw Max Verstappen forced to retire with a brake problem, and Sergio Perez just fifth, almost a minute behind Grand Prix winner, Ferrari driver Carlos Sainz. After Verstappen's warning ("Car difficult to drive"), team principal Christian Horner did not è hide behind a finger.
"The brake problem seemed to be there from the start of the race, which is why Max described it as having a handbrake pulled. This è caused the heat to rise, resulting in a fire. Now we have to figure out what è happened. Retreat hurts everyone, but we have to learn from this and understand what caused it".
On Perez’s fifth-place finish: "He probably didn’t realize it, but he had some damage on the single-seater and lost a significant amount of downforce from the bottom when he passed Alonso. At that point the tire degradation è worsened further and was not good at the end of the run. The truthè è that we were struggling in the stints this weekend: è strange for our single-seaters and we have to understand why this happened".
A lack of performance compared to the Ferraris also emphasized by Helmut Marko: "In some moments we were even two seconds slower than Sainz and we still have to understand what the reason is. Maybe the temperature was too high, or the set-up è went in the wrong direction. In any case, the result obtained by Perez makes us think a lot. Verstappen’s retirement? We have yet to identify the cause".
