The numbers speak for themselves

In the world of alpine skiing, Italian women again proved dominant this season, especially over their male colleagues, a phenomenon evident in recent years and confirmed again in the 2023-24 season. The "Pink Avalanche" turned out to be extraordinary, while the men struggled to keep up.

Italy's alpine skiing shines thanks to women&#39s feats, particularly those of Federica Brignone, who contributed significantly to the national medal tally. With a total of 10 victories for Italy in the season, six were thanks to the Carabinieri woman from Valle d’Aosta, who also scored seven podiums. Sofia Goggia added two wins to the tally, despite an injury that forced her to cut short her season early. Marta Bassino contributed an additional win, while for the men the only success è was Dominik Paris.

In terms of podiums, the disparity between men and women è was remarkable: out of a total of 29 Italian podiums, only six were achieved by men, exclusively in the fast disciplines, while in the technical disciplines they did not achieve any podium positions.
