Matteo Berrettini, rebirth plan: next moves unveiled
Matteo Berrettini is getting ready to start the clay court season: the Roman tennis player plans his resurgence and return to the top 100 after his elimination by Andy Murray in the first round of the Miami tournament. The Azzurro's confidence is growing: "The goal ’is to be at the top in Rome then Paris".
Berrettini will be on court in Marrakech as will two other Azzurri, Lorenzo Musetti and Lorenzo Sonego. An appearance in Monte Carlo è complicated, but he will be there in Munich, where he will have a wild card. Madrid, where he was a finalist three years ago, remains in doubt because the Internazionali d'Italia and Roland Garros are the two tournaments he will give priority to before the start of the season on grass.
"The’goal in the short term è to find continuity, play more consecutive matches and find the rhythm – explained the Roman, who recently changed coaches -. Myè smile is back and the season è just started".
The final at the Phoenix Challenger gave him confidence: "Anything I would have thought, except reaching the final right away at the first tournament, with a very high level and so many matches in a row. I didn’t think I would be soì ready. I have a lot of confidence in my team and in myself", are the words reported by the Gazzetta dello Sport.
