Matteo Arnaldi explains defeat against Machac in Miami

On the sidelines of the eighth final of the Miami Masters 1000 lost to Tomas Machac, Matteo Arnaldi explained the reasons for the knockout, trying however to frame the positive aspects of an experience that brought him among the best sixteen athletes of the tournament on Florida cement, during which he beat athletes of excellent level such as Bublik and Shapovalov.

"It è was not a good day,‖ he admitted, explaining that he had been experiencing flu-like symptoms for the past few days.

I am not making excuses, he simply è was good at not letting me play the way I wanted to". Despite the disappointing outcome of the last match, Arnaldi found a silver lining in his overall experience, highlighting a milestone he had never achieved before: "The balance in the end è positive, I had never made it to the round of 16 in a Masters 1000 on cement".

Arnaldi said he was still aware that he was not up to previous performances: "Today’s performance does not make me happy, but in the end I try to take the good from the matches I won, from the attitude I had. I still feel I have grown, one step after another".

Looking ahead, the San Remo tennis player showed optimism for the next phase of the season, which will take place on clay: "There will be tournaments such as Monte Carlo, Barcelona, Madrid, Rome and Roland Garros. For now, the schedule è this".
