Daniil Medvedev demolished by Jannik Sinner: “I didn’t know what to do.”
An absolutely dominant performance, as confirmed by his opponent.
Jannik Sinner at the Miami Open demolished Daniil Medvedev in the semifinals, beating him 6-1, 6-2 in just one hour and nine minutes of play. It was an absolute show of strength for the South Tyrolean, so much so that his own opponent (in his fifth loss in a row against the Italian) publicly acknowledged his own difficulty in being able to counter him. So much so that he even found himself disoriented on the court at the end of the match.
"At one point I did not know what to do anymore,” Medvedev admitted at a press conference in Miami. After losing the first set I was wondering if I should change something in my game. Then però I decided not to change anything, because I remember watching the Indian Wells semifinal in which Sinner had given 6-1 to Carlos Alcaraz. So I decided to continue with my usual game, but the problem è that as soon as I raised my head he always made winning shots".
"At times when I seemed to have regained my composure, Sinner would make an ace or a winning shot from the back, forehand and backhand. At one point I found myself on the court completely bewildered as to what I could do to at least try to counter him", Medvedev added.
