Fognini and Giant join Berrettini, Sonego and Cobolli

There will be five Italian athletes in the main draw of the Marrakech Tournament, ATP 250 on clay scheduled during the first week of April: in fact, Matteo Berrettini, Lorenzo Sonego (already in the second round thanks to the number 4 seed) and Flavio Cobolli are joined by Fabio Fognini and Matteo Giganti, both able to pass the two qualifying rounds to the main draw.

Fognini, after beating on Sunday the French Mathias Bourgue 6-3, 3-6, 6-4, got rid on Easter Monday of the Austrian Lucas Miedler, No. 1082 in the ranking but still able to win the first set before succumbing in the next two fractions: 3-6, 6-3, 6-2 the score in favor of Fognini.

For Gigante, too, the two victories came in three sets: on Sunday, the 22-year-old defeated host Karim Bennani 4-6, 6-4, 6-1, while on Monday, his opponent in the final round, German Rudolf Molleker (No. 183 in the world rankings) è was overcome at the end of a real battle that ended 7-6(5), 0-6, 7-6(4).
