World No. 2 is not enough for Jannik Sinner
The words of Jannik Sinner
Jannik Sinner spoke at the press conference after the Miami triumph: "For me è it is important to be number 2 in the world, but è even more important that I had great performances especially in the semifinals and the final. Being number 2 è a great feeling. I never thought I would get to this point. I come from a very normal family: my father and mother are still working; for me, sports and life are two separate things. This è a special day and I am enjoying it“.
"When I was younger I did not handle these situations the way I do now. Maybe in the future I will know how to handle them even better. On the court I always try to keep calm: my attitude è always aggressive, even if I will go on to lose, I prefer to try to take the point than wait passive. So many things can happen on the court, the’inertia can change even when you are ahead set and break, so I have to be ready for anything“.
Now the head è to the red clay: “There won’t be much time to adjust because I’ll start training in Monte Carlo from Thursday, so there won’t even be a week to adjust to the conditions. Usually in Monte Carlo there are always strange results, so we will see what will happen this year. Definitely the’main goal è Roland Garros, but already from the first tournament I’ll try to do the best. Then there’è Rome which è a really important tournament for me, playing with the home crowd è always special. I feel that I have learned several things from last year and compared to 2023 I am in better shape, I am very relaxed to face this stage of the season“ as well.
He closed on his family and the simplicity of his parents: “They will continue to do their life, and I will do my life. My father è came to see me in Indian Wells, there are three or four tournaments they can come to see me play: Monte Carlo, Rome, Vienna and Turin if he can get there. They won’t travel much, at least for now. There are also grandma and grandpa who are of a certain age and want to be close to. They live in a beautiful place and are fine there’. I miss spending some’ time with my parents because’ I came away from home when I was 13/14 years old. I hope to make up for it in the future, but for me è it is more important that they are happy. If I am happy so are they“.
