After the successes of Flavio Cobolli and Matteo Berrettini, Fabio Fognini also detaches the pass for the round of 16 of the Marrakech ATP 250. The Ligurian tennis player, in fact, è won in a comeback over Frenchman Hugo Gaston with a score of 6-7 6-1 6-4 in a match characterized by several errors on both sides.
In the first set, after nullifying two break points in the third game, Fognini managed to put his head ahead by going ahead 5-3. However, from that moment, Gaston places a partial 12-3, reversing the result and going him to serve to win the first partial. At the tie-break, the Italian started better, but two consecutive double faults allowed the Frenchman to stay in touch and win the first set after a long exchange.
In the second set, the Ligurian tennis player manages to impose his game and begins to dominate the match. After breaking serve in the fourth game, Fognini took full advantage of the numerous errors made by the transalpine to easily close out the set with a score of 6-1.
In the third set, the inertia è still in favor of the San Remo native, who manages to break Gaston twice in a row. However, the Frenchman does not flinch and manages to bring the score back to even, also helped by a physical decline of the Italian in the middle stages of the set. In the tenth game, Fognini closed the score by materializing the first match point.
In the next round, the 36-year-old will face Serbian tennis player Laslo Djere.
