Flavio Cobolli, velvet debut in Marrakech

Velvet debut for Flavio Cobolli at the Marrakech ATP 250. The Roman tennis player, in fact, overcame in the first round Jordanian wildcard Abdullah Shelbayh, number 230 of the ATP ranking, defeated in two sets (6-1 6-4) after an hour and twelve minutes of play.

In the first set, the balance is broken immediately in favor of Cobolli, who snatches the serve from his opponent in the fourth game (3-1). The Azure stringed three more consecutive games and closed the first partial 6-1. In the second partial Shelbayh puts up more resistance but in the fifth game Cobolli gets the decisive break that he keeps until the final 6-4, having however to cancel three counter-break balls in the seventh game.

Cobolli thus qualifies for the round of 16 of the 'Grand Prix Hassan II' where he will face Russian Pavel Kotov, number 68 in the world rankings.
