WTA Bogotà, Sara Errani in the quarterfinals

In the second round of the WTA 250 on the Colombian clay of Bogotà Sara Errani, world number 117, beat the “marathon runner” Spanish Sara Sorribes Tormo, number 50, with a score of 6-2 4-6 6-4 thus landing in the quarterfinals.

Sara loses her serve immediately in the first game but from 0-2 turns the situation around with eight consecutive games won, two break points saved on 4-2, first set pocketed and 2-0 lead in the second after jumping two more break points.

It continues però to go in spurts: from 2-0 Errani goes 2-2, then 4-2 Errani and then 6-4 Sorribes Tormo who then evens the score. The Spaniard saves four break points in the second game of the third set, then from the fourth to the sixth game there are three breaks, two in favor of Errani.

The Italian then goes up 5-2, goes to serve for the match at 5-3 and loses the serve but soon after fortunately closes the file on her opponent’s serve after three hours of battle. In the quarterfinals Sara will meet the winner between Brazil’s Laura Pigossi and Romania’s Irina Bara.
