Another crash at the Tour of the Basque Country, fracture for Mikel Landa
New fall at the Tour of the Basque Country, with a crash in the middle of stage 5 that caused the withdrawal of Spaniard Mikel Landa and three other riders.
The Soudal Quick Step rider suffered a fractured collarbone, thus adding to the list of injuries opened by yesterday’s crash-choc that knocked out Jonas Vingegaard, Primoz Roglic and Remco Evenepoel, among others.
Mikel Landa, 34, è is originally from the Basque Country and has won 16 races in his career, including three stages at the Giro d’Italia, a race in which he placed third in 2015 and 2022, and one at the Vuelta. He also won the Grand Prix de la Montagne classification at the 2017 Giro.
As stage races he è won the Giro del Trentino in 2016 and the Vuelta a Burgos in 2017 and 2021.
