Jannik Sinner has clear ideas: "It will beà a tournament-training, I have two big goals"
Jannik Sinner was clear in his press conference ahead of the Monte Carlo tournament: the first tournament on clay è always very delicate, and the Blue knows he will need time to get used to the surface. The ultimate goal è to be perfectly comfortable for the two biggest clay court events of the season, Roland Garros and the Olympics.
"My expectations for Monte Carlo are not very high. Let’s say I will use the tournament as active training: preparation mixed with matches, I want to understand what level I am at on clay and then improve. The’goal è set on Roland Garros and then the Olympics. They are played every four years, and cannotò know what will happenà in the future: thereforeò I am in my top list", are the words reported by Gazzetta dello Sport.
"Is clay my worst surface? If we look at last year’s results, maybe sì. But I have changed as a player and in any case the first career Slam quarters I got at Roland Garros. I have confidence that I can be a competitive player on clay as well, maybe it will take me just a little bit’ more time".
On the Monte Carlo tournament: "I love this tournament. I have lived here since I was 18 years old, I train here. È a great environment, we feel safe, it’s good for privacy. There are many gyms, clay courts, also many players to train with. During the tournament there are many Italians among the spectators, and that is also why I love playing here".
