Lottie Woad triumphs at women’s Masters
Great celebration for Lottie Woad
The Masters è hers: Lottie Woad won the prestigious Augusta National Women's Amateur, held at the Augusta National Golf Club in the United States, finishing her effort with 208 strokes (-8). This success makes her the first Englishwoman to triumph in this very prestigious tournament.
Woad, a 20-year-old from Farnham and a student at Florida State University, outlasted the competition thanks to two birdies in the crucial stages of the tournament, narrowly beating American Bailey Shoemaker, who è finished second with 209 (-7). In third place was Sweden’s Ingrid Lindblad, who needed 212 strokes (-4) to finish the course.
Francesca Fiorellini, the only Italian representative, finished 30° place with 225 (+9) in her first participation in the tournament. After a promising start the 18-year-old from Rome encountered difficulties in the following rounds, particularly in the third round, closing with an 80 (+8).
