Jannik Sinner and Lorenzo Sonego's adventure in the Monte Carlo Masters 1000 doubles tournament comes to an immediate close. The Italian pair, in fact, è surrendered to the two Belgians Sander Gille and Joran Vliegen with the score of 6-7 7-5 10-7, after a marathon of almost two hours of play.
In the first set both pairs are very effective on serve, as confirmed by only ten points won in response. At the tie-break, it was Gille and Vliegen who committed the first blunders, and Sinner and Sonego were immediately able to take advantage of this to place the decisive acceleration and close the first fraction on 7-6.
In the early stages of the second set, the è inertia è still in favor of the blue duo, who è deftly took a 4-1 lead. From that moment, however, the Belgian duo managed to elevate their game, twice snatching the serve from their opponents and winning the second partial 7-5.
In the deciding super tie-break, it was still Gille and Vliegen who controlled the exchange by making use of their greater experience in doubles. Despite the resistance of Sinner and Sonego, the two Belgians managed to win a mini-break on 8-5 and win the match thanks to a double fault committed by the South Tyrolean.
