After losing to Stefanos Tsitsipas in the semifinals of the Monte Carlo Masters 1000, Jannik Sinner is set to continue his clay-court season with another 1000, the Madrid 1000, in which è number 1 seed.
The 22-year-old South Tyrolean world No. 2 as the tournament’s first favorite in the Madrid capital will skip the first round and begin directly in the second round, whose matches will be played on Friday and Saturday.
In two to three days then, Sinner will be back on the court, and his opponent will be the winner of the first-round match between longtime French veteran Richard Gasquet and Lorenzo Sonego. There’è then the possibilityà of an all-blue derby between Jannik and the Turinese.
