Pecco Bagnaia sets record in Jerez free practice
Pecco Bagnaia ahead of everyone in the first day of free practice at Jerez
A record-breaking Pecco Bagnaia finished ahead of everyone on the first day of free practice at Jerez. The Ducati centaur, in fact, lapped in 1'36"025, signing the new track record. Behind him were Maverick Viñales, second and a tenth away, and Marc Marquez, in third, +0.143 from Bagnaia.
The two-time world champion in Moto GP showed all his satisfaction to the microphones of Sky Sports: "We focused on what was wrong in the last races, we carried out a thousand analyses and things with the team that made meetings to understand. We planned Friday like it was a test and it worked, we solved many things with three runs to go. I am very happy, we needed it and I was missing this feeling".
" It will not be easy, but at least we have the potential to fight with confidence – added the Piedmontese rider -. This morning I had problems with the clutch, then the work è gone. With the medium I felt good, in the afternoon with the soft we went. In pace we are there, KTM did a round but I think we are aligned. Between soft and medium there isn't much difference. For the Sprint we will go with soft, for the long race we will see after what happens tomorrow".
"The 23 was strong on grip, this new one gives meà difficultyà and I can’t understand it. But in braking è clearly superior for stabilityà. Of grip, on the other hand, we have to find" Bagnaia commented on the differences between the Desmosedici GP 24 and the 23.
