Jannik Sinner champion of elegance: golden words to Sonego after beating him

After winning the derby against Lorenzo Sonego, Jannik Sinner addressed golden words to his friend: "&It&#39s difficult from the mental point of view to challenge a great friend like Sonego for me, but on the court I try to isolate this'aspect".

"Today he did not è feel great on the court, he made several mistakes, I tried to be solid. I know he is going through a special moment with the change of coach, I wish him good luck. I can still improve here in Madrid: last year I didn&#39t play, two years ago I didn&#39t play very well, so you can always do more," he said after the 6-0, 6-3 dominated match.

The match between the two Italians was valid for the second round of the Madrid Masters 1000. The South Tyrolean, the tournament’s No. 1 seed, closed the file in 70 minutes, with a 6-0, 6-3 win during which he left very little to his friend/adversary. Jannik Sinner thus è confirmed himself as the black beast, as an opponent, for Lorenzo Sonego (several times his partner in doubles): in the five direct clashes, four in 2023 in addition to today’s, Sinner has always won, leaving Sonego with only one set, won on tie-break in Halle, Germany.
