Masters 1000 Madrid: the program of the Azzurri

There's great anticipation for Jannik Sinner's debut in the Madrid Masters 1000. The South Tyrolean, who took advantage of a bye in the first round as the number one seed on the draw, will make his debut against friend and compatriot Lorenzo Sonego, who reached the second round thanks to a success over Richard Gasquet.

The world number two will challenge the Piedmontese tennis player for the fifth time, having beaten him in all four previous matches. Sinner also boasts an outstanding record against Italian tennis players: the Italian è unbeaten against his countrymen, with an open streak of 12 wins.

Sinner and Sonego will not be the only Italians involved in Saturday’s Mutua Madrid Open. In fact, two other Azzurri will take the court: Matteo Arnaldi will have to face the very tough obstacle Daniil Medvedev, the fourth seeded seed, while Flavio Cobolli will challenge Chilean Nicolas Jarry, the number 22 seed.

The challenge between Sinner and Sonego è scheduled on the center court, the 'Manolo Santana Stadium', not before 12:30 p.m., Arnaldi-Medvedev will be the third match on court 3 from 11 a.m., after two women’s singles matches, while Cobolli-Jarry will close the program on court 5, where it will start; also at 11 a.m.
