MotoGP: first pole for Marc Marquez, then Bezzecchi and Martin
MotoGP: Marc Maquez in pole position in Jerez
After more than a year, Marc Marquez returns to pole position in a MotoGP race. The Spanish rider, in fact, finished ahead of everyone in qualifying at the Spanish Grand Prix, taking his first pole of the season with the Gresini team. In the wet conditions of Jerez, Marquez lapped in 1'46"773, beating Marco Bezzecchi, riding the Ducati of the Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team, by 271 thousandths.
Closing out the front row was another Ducati, the Pramac of Jorge Martin. The Ducatis literally made a vacuum on the wet Jerez circuit: as many as eight finished in the top nine positions. The only exception was Brad Binder’s KTM, which placed fourth, followed by the Ducatis of Fabio Di Giannantonio (Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team) and Alex Marquez (Gresini Racing).
Only seventh time for two-time world champion Pecco Bagnaia, who will share the third row with Franco Morbidelli, on the other Ducati Pramac, and teammate Enea Bastianini. Finally, completing the top 10 is rookie Pedro Acosta, the victim of a fall without consequences in turn 13.
