Yeman Crippa in history: record also in the 10km
Yeman Crippa in history: record also in the 10km
From 3000 meters on track to the marathon: Yeman Crippa also signs the record in the 10km road race, the last piece missing in his very rich collection of records. In Herzogenaurach, Germany, the Italian recorded a time of 27:08, touching the European record of Frenchman Jimmy Gressier (27:07 on March 17), missed by a single second, and demolishing the previous Italian record that had belonged to Pietro Riva and Yohanes Chiappinelli since 2022 (27:50).
Now, therefore, the Trentino member of the Fiamme Oro holds the Italian records for the 3000, 5000, 10,000, 5 km, 10 km, half marathon and marathon at the same time. In short, a nice calling card for the European Championships in Rome on June 9 and especially in view of the Paris Olympics.
"I expected a 27:30 or a few seconds less, but not so strong – admitted Crippa to official FIDAL channels -. Today’s race made me think a lot: I thought that the preparation for the marathon would make me lose something muscular on the 10 km and instead I felt good, always in control, even in the restarts after the turns. I finished 5:20 in the last two kilometers, not è not bad at all a double 2:40.
"At one point I even thought I could finish second (Crippa finished fourth, ed), I tried to catch Kipkorir and it è cost me a little bit: probably I lost the European record l’or maybe when there’è was a skid in the first part of the race. But I am very satisfied. Having all the records, from the 3000 to the marathon, tells me that I am a complete athlete and è beautiful. Now these times I want to improve them all…" commented the blue athlete.
