Porto’s new president è André Villas-Boas, already the team’s coach in the 2010/11 season.The elections for the new corporate bodies, in which 26,700 members participated, were held on Saturday, April 27, and the counting was completed in the night.
Villas-Boas's opponent, Jorge Pinto da Costa, who had led the team since 1982, acknowledged defeat. This victory comes at the culmination of months of tension, marked by scuffles such as the one that occurred at last year's November general assembly or, again, the vandalism at Villas-Boas's home. For this violence, several members of the organized Port supporters are currently detained or otherwise under investigation.
André Villas-Boas, nicknamed “Special Two” to distinguish him from the “Special One” Josè Mourinho, in’s only season on the bench of Porto, his hometown team, won the domestic league, cup and supercup and Europa League. He later coached Chelsea and Tottenham in the Premier League with little luck, while with Zenit St. Petersburg between 2014 and 2016 he won a championship, a supercup and a Russian Cup.
