Carlos Alcaraz wins in pain and updates on his arm

Suffering victory for Carlos Alcaraz in Madrid: the world number three bent German Jan-Lennard Struff in three sets after nearly three hours of play. Jannik Sinner’s rival has to deal with a not 100 percent arm, but he had good feelings throughout the match. A good confidence boost considering that the Iberian had to skip both Monte Carlo and Barcelona for this problem.

"For me è it was incredible to play at this level for almost three hours, after a month out of competitions. There was tension on the court and that's why I think I had ups and downs when I served to win. Physically I was a little bit down and he was at his best, but in the end I handled the emotions well".

His physical condition: "My arm in general is fine, I try not to think about it. But I finished very well and with a very good feeling and that è very positive".

The public gives him strength: "The affection I get here in Madrid from my people è out of the ordinary. I wait all year to be able to come to this tournament, my family and friends come here. This field suits me wonderfully and with the affection of the public, all the better".
