Official: Jannik Sinner withdraws from Madrid Masters 1000

Jannik Sinner is withdrawing from the Madrid Masters 1000. The world number two will not take part in the quarterfinal match against Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassime due to hip problems already felt in previous matches against Kotov and Khachanov. This was confirmed by the South Tyrolean himself through a post on his Instagram account.

"It's very sad to have to withdraw from my next match here in Madrid. My hip has been bothering me this week and it is becoming more and more painful. Following the doctors advice we decided it was better not to play any further and risk making it worse. In the coming days I will doò more tests and follow the advice of the specialists on recovery. Thank you guys for all your support" these are the words of the South Tyrolean on his social profiles.

"Jannik Sinner will withdraw from the Mutua Madrid Open due to a right hip injury. Therefore, he will not take the court in his quarterfinal match against Felix Auger-Aliassime on Thursday. Get well soon, Jannik!" this, instead, is the note issued by the organizers of the Spanish tournament.

Recovery time would not yet be determined, but the South Tyrolean would have decided to declare a forfeit as a precautionary measure in the hope of being able to return to the court for the next key events of the season, Internazionali d'Italia and Roland Garros above all.
