Tragedy in La Salle: on Mount Paramont in Valle d'Aosta è the lifeless body of Denis Trento, a multiple ski mountaineering champion, was found. The 41-year-old athlete's failure to return home, a mountain guide,  immediately triggered the alarm, and his body è was found above an avalanche by men of the Aosta Valley Mountain Rescue, who arrived by helicopter.

This is the statement from the FISI: "Denis Trento had left very early to descend solo from the north face of the mountain: he was supposed to return around noon but none of his family members saw him again. The first search teams left in the early afternoon of Friday, May 3"  

"Reaching the area, in La Salle, were the men of the Aosta Valley Alpine Rescue, who arrived by helicopter. Also on the scene was the mountain rescue team of the Guardia di Finanza from Entrèves (Courmayeur). Unfortunately, medical workers could only note his death above a snowdrift".

"During his career, Denis won the Mezzalama trophy together with Manfred Reichegger and Matteo Eydallin and achieved a second place in the Pierra Menta, as well as numerous European and world team titles. President Flaivo Roda and the entire FISI family extend to his wife Fabienne and three children Severine, Gregory and Gilbert their deepest condolences".
