Significant results for Italian relay teams in Nassau

The men’s 4×100 and the women’s 4×100 won qualification for the Olympic Games in Paris. The verdicts were handed down during the World Championships reserved for relays held in Nassau, capital of the Bahamas: the men pulled out the ticket by qualifying for the finals, the women, on the other hand, passed the repechage series with an excellent 42.60 (third absolute time at the Italian level).

There'è however, one regret for the men's relay team and Marcell Jacobs in particular: Italy finished the final in third place, but è was disqualified later because the handover of the baton from the 100 Olympic medalist in Tokyo and Lorenzo Patta (Italian relay team members along with Roberto Rigali and Filippo Tortu) è occurred beyond the permitted zone. Jacobs, as reported by Fidal, admitted the mistake after the race.

The women’s team, on the other hand, composed of Zaynab Dosso, Dalia Kaddari, Irene Siragusa (lined up in place of Anna Bongiorni, who was injured in the warm-up) and Arianna De Masi, instead achieved an excellent 42.60 in the repechage race to gain Olympic qualification: only in the battery and in the final at the 2023 World Championships in Budapest did the women’s relay do better in the time trial.

Out of the five relays competing, as many as four have thus gained Olympic qualification: the two 4×100 relays in fact join the women’s 4×400 (Rebecca Borga, Ayomide Folorunso, Giancarla Trevisan and Alice Mangione) and the men’s 4×400 (Luca Sito, Vladimir Aceti, Edoardo Scotti and Davide Re), which qualified in the previous competitions also held in Nassau.
