Sara Errani flies to the second round of the Internazionali d'Italia. The Romagna native, in the draw thanks to a wild card, defeated the U.S. Amanda Anisimova, number 237 in the WTA ranking, in a comeback with a score of 4-6 6-2 6-1 after one hour and fifty-one minutes of play. In the next round, Errani will face Ukraine's Elina Svitolina, the 16th seed in the draw and world number 19.
Winning comeback also for Elisabetta Cocciaretto. The Marche-based tennis player, in fact, beat Mexican qualifier Renata Zarazua, number 103 in the WTA ranking, after a two-hour and forty-minute battle, played over two days, due to rain. 4-6 7-5 6-3 was the score by which she got the better of Cocciaretto, who in the second round will face Caroline Garcia, 22nd seeded and world number 23.
Nothing to do, however, for Lucrezia Stefanini, Federica Di Sarra and Giorgia Pedone: the former è was eliminated in the second round by the Czech Linda Noskova, number 29 in the WTA rankings and in the seeding, who è imposed herself in two sets (6-3 7-6); Di Sarra and Pedone exited at the 'debut respectively against French qualifier Varvara Gracheva, number 88 in the WTA rankings, who è imposed herself in two sets (6-1 6-3) and Slovak qualifier Rebecca Sramkova, number 120 in the WTA rankings, who è imposed herself in two sets (6-4 6-1).
Friday it will be the turn of the number one Italian women’s tennis player Jasmine Paolini. The Tuscan tennis player, as the 11th seed in the seeding, will start directly from the second round where she will take on Egyptian Mayar Sherif, number 80 in the world rankings.
