It è closed after midnight the day at the Foro Italico, with two Italians on the court under the spotlight that in the end had a different outcome from their respective matches: we are talking about Luca Nardi and Lorenzo Sonego.
The former, after the feat against Djokovic in Indian Wells, beat Daniel Altmaier with a double 6-4, detaching the pass for the second round, where he will face Holger Rune. Lorenzo Sonego, on the other hand, gave it his all but it wasn t enough with Lajovic, who won 6-3 6-7(5) 6-3.
Lorenzo Sonego had granted an exclusive interview to UbiTennis from Rome: "It's the most important tournament for me, where I experienced the best moments of my career. Being here è always a pleasure, I am very charged, I am training well and I am ready to take the court“
Inevitable question about Jannik Sinner's absence: “I hope we all Italians can do what Jannik would have done if he had been there. Not to see him here in Rome è a pity, not to see him on the field è a sorrow for everyone. This gives us additional charge to dedicate him some victories".
