Novak Djokovic breaks silence after head water bottle in Rome
After the big scare, the first comment è stringent but reassuring.
Novak Djokovic in Rome protagonist in spite of himself of an unfortunate episode during the Internazionali d'Italia, but at least not as shameful as some feared. The Serb, in fact, è was hit in the head by an aluminum water bottle rained down from the stands in his direction while signing some autographs at the Foro Italico. But he himself confirmed, after several hours of silence, that it è was an accident.
The confirmation of the incident had come thanks to some amateur footage taken right at the Foro Italico. If è in fact, it is crystal clear that Djokovic collapsed to the ground after being hit by the water bottle, even losing blood on the occasion, the images certify the total involuntariness of the fact. In fact, the object simply fell from the backpack of a fan, who had leaned toward the champion from the stands by lowering his back.
Djokovic’s own staff reiterated that it was an unfortunate accident, after the Serb had decided not to make any statements on Friday evening, even canceling a previously organized press conference. Net of a mood that was certainly shaken, 'Sky Sports' spoke Saturday of "not a worrying condition, apart from a few stitches and some swelling".
"Thank you for the messages of concern. È it was an accident and I am fine, resting in the hotel with a bag of ice. See you all on Sunday", were then the words that Djokovic himself wanted to give to his fans via a post on X/Twitter. At the moment, therefore, his stay at the Internazionali d'Italia appears confirmed.
