The words of Nicola Pietrangeli

Nicola Pietrangeli gave a lengthy interview to 'Avvenire' in which he spoke about Jannik Sinner and the injury that forced him to miss the Internazionali d'Italia. "It is sorry that he had to give up precisely in Rome,” he admitted, “But the hip è dangerous, he has to be very careful. These sacrifices must be made to come back stronger than before".

"Wrong to go to Madrid? In my opinion, no,” added the Italian tennis legend. He evidently felt like playing, then heè realized that something was wrong and stopped. I have never allowed myself to give him advice because heé has a great team following him and I don&e think it is right to meddle. I hope he comes back as soon as possible".

"Before you were a talent who also became a bit’ athlete. Now if you’re not an athlete, you can’t even get on the field. You don’t always need to shoot so’ hard. Sometimes you just have to back the ball to score, you have to save yourself to prolong your career".

"Now è easy to say: I’d predicted it. But really in September last year, I said in an interview that Italy could win Davis. And that’è è happened. If Berrettini comes back even at 80 percent, in my opinion there’s no more for anybody. And for quite some time. Becauseé I don’t see another team as strong as the Italian team. With Sinner and Berrettini (and now we also have a very good doubles team), it will become boring to win the Davis Cup" concluded Pietrangeli in view of the Davis Cup.
