Stosa Virtus relies on former Marco Evangelisti
A former for Stosa Virtus
With the season over, Stosa Virtus is already starting to lay the groundwork for the next one, still in the B Interregional. To do so, the red-blue club has decided to start again with an old acquaintance of PalaPerucatti, Marco Evangelisti, who will fill the role of Stosa coach next season.
After a high-level career as a player between A2 and B series Evangelisti began his coaching career right in Agrigento, where he spent the last five years of his career in Legadue. In’the last season, in fact, he alternated between commitments on the parquet floor and those on the bench of the Sicilian formation’s youth team. Once he hung up his shoes, Evangelisti è then returned to his Valdarno and then embarked on the coaching path in Arezzo, first in the youth and then moving to assistant in the first team before finally covering the role of head coach of the Arezzo formation for four years, where he collected excellent results by also achieving promotion from C Gold to the B Interregional series, where his team è highlighted this season by achieving a resounding salvation without going through the playout.
"I am really happy to return to a beautiful environment that I already know as I experienced it many years ago as a player – says newly appointed coach Evangelisti – I am very happy and charged for the new adventure. I will tryò to make all the boys grow by taking them one step further every day. The companyà è is very ambitious, there are interesting boys to start from. From now we will try to complete the roster as best we can so that we can take one step further.
The new adventure that Evangelisti is about to take will not be perà però the first in redblu. In the 2007/2008 season he wore the Rossoblu jersey in the Serie B Eccellenza series playing an incredible year at an average of 21 points (with an exploit of 47 points, a historical record for the club) and winning the Coppa Italia Serie B, a historical national trophy won by Virtus: "It was a resounding year, with a team made up of very young guys and a great coach. Beyond the extraordinary victory it was an important year of growth for everyone in a family environment that helped everyone make a qualitative leap.
