At the women’s Vuelta a Burgos ugly fall of Elisa Balsamo
A scary fall on the final straight of the first stage of the women’s Vuelta a Burgos that involved Elisa Balsamo and Sofia Bertizzolo. Of particular concern is the condition of Balsamo, who was immediately loaded into an ambulance and taken to the hospital.
"An initial evaluation and X-ray examinations showed a fracture of the nasal bone and a concussion for Elisa Balsamo, along with a fracture of the second metacarpal", reads a post from Lidl Trek, the team of the 26-year-old Cuneo native.
Elisa Balsamo won the Elite road world title in 2021 five years after that in the junior category. This year she won the Trofeo Alfredo Binda and è was second at Paris-Roubaix.
