Here are the words, reported by motorsport.com’s Italian site, of Ferrari’s Monegasque Charles Leclerc on the eve of the three-day Imola race, the home race par excellence for the Maranello team.

“A surprise Bozzi new track engineer? We’ve always had a close relationship, always working well together,” Leclerc says.

This is a big promotion for Bryan, I’m happy. Once I realized that was the choice of the team and Xavi, I was aware that Bozzi was the perfect person for the role of track engineer and I am very confident that he will do very well from the’beginning. È it was a choice of Xavi and the team. Together they made the decision to break up and I was informed about it right after Miami. With Xavi I have always had a very good relationship, for me è it has always been fine and I think with Bryan it will be fine as well because we have known each other for so many years and, therefore, there’è nothing to learn even if his role now will be a little bit different. It’ll be fine…”.

“In the first part of the championship we did a little bit more’ struggle in the slow corners. These updates were conceived months earlier, so the target of this package is not è yet updated with what is the evidence today, forò it should be a step forward. I hope we will see the full potential of the machine. I donè t know what the actual value of this package will be, because weè ve tested it mostly in the simulator. Certainly è a step forward, but on the Internet I have seen numbers that are definitely bigger than they are in reality. We will take small steps in the right direction. Having said that, I hope that the data we expect will be confirmed at Imola, although it is not è the ideal track to find out and we may have to wait for other tracks before we see the’full value of the novelties”.

“Newey in Ferrari? Everyone in the paddock would like him in their team. Having said that we are the team that in the last seven or eight months è grown the most. È it is true that McLaren made a big jump in the last race with the new novelty package; but now it is our turn to succeed. So far the team has done a great job.
