Atalanta passes Lecce and goes to Champions League

Atalanta secures fifth place in the standings, which means arithmetic qualification for the Champions League, thanks to an away success against Lecce. At the Via del Mare, in fact, the Nerazzurri imposed themselves 2-0 thanks to goals in the second half by De Ketelaere and Scamacca.
Atalanta got off to a strong start: on 4’ Miranchuk committed Falcone with a nice left-footed shot from outside; three minutes later è again the Lecce goalkeeper denied the Nerazzurri the lead thanks to a prodigious intervention on Pasalic from two steps. Lecce responded with Piccoli trying twice within a minute but Musso was ready. In the final, the Salentini went through with Dorgu who beat Musso on his way out, but è in an offside position.
In the second half Gasperini inserted De Ketelaere and Ederson and è it was precisely the Belgian fantasist who put the Dea ahead: at 48'the former Milan man, launched by Scamacca, scored with a nice touch underneath. Five minutes later, the orobici doubled: corner from the right by Miranchuk, Falcone’s empty exit and Scamacca’s winning header. In the final, the Giallorossi had a chance to halve the disadvantage but Piccoli’s free kick was printed on the post.
With this victory, Atalanta moves to 66 points in the standings, -1 behind Bologna and Juventus, who will compete for third place in Monday night’s postponement, while Lecce, already safe, remains stuck at 37, in 13th place.
