Imola: Max Verstappen hits pole and joins Prost and Senna

GP Emilia Romagna: pole position of Max Verstappen

Max Verstappen hits his seventh consecutive pole position since the start of the season in the Grand Prix of Emilia Romagna, equaling Alain Prost’s record in 1993. For the Dutch champion è it is also the eighth pole in a row in total as Ayrton Senna at the turn of 1988 and 1989.

The Red Bull driver was ahead of the Mc Larens of Oscar Piastri (who però è is under investigation for an impeding incident against Kevin Magnussen), 74 thousandths behind, and Lando Norris, 91 thousandths behind the world champion.

Disappointing expectations was Ferrari, with Charles Leclerc in fourth place and Carlos Sainz in fifth. In sixth place is the Mercedes of George Russell, seventh è the Racing Bulls of Yuki Tsunoda while in eighth place is the other Mercedes of Lewis Hamilton. Closing out the top 10 are the l'other Racing Bulls of Daniel Ricciardo and the Haas of Nico Hulkenberg.

At the end of qualifying, Piastriè was penalized three positions on the grid for tomorrow’s race for obstructing Magnussen, so the Ferraris of Leclerc and Sainz will start third and fourth and both on the second row.
