On the eve of the departure for the Cavalese retreat of the National Under-22 team, Mattia Boninfante gave his first words as setter of Lube Civitanova to the official channels of the white-and-red club. Boninfante, born in 2004, played last season in Modena and from 2024/2025 he will be part of the roster of the Marche team.

"For a young man to see such a dominant team on the Italian scene and a protagonist in international volleyball è so much stuff,” said Boninfante, who admitted that he has followed Lube with admiration in past years. “I consider myself privileged to have played with former Lube stars like Bruno, Juantorena and Stankovic. They told me anecdotes and victories in the red and white".

As far as goals are concerned, the neo-Whitecorosso has clear ideas: "I want Lube to the Final Four of the Italian Cup and, at the same time, I dream of a great path in the Challenge Cup, an event that fascinates me as much as any international tournament. The level of the SuperLega è high, but we will fight".

Former Lube players Boninfante played with in Modena wished the young setter well: "(When they learned about the deal with Lube) Jokes and nice conversations came up. They gave me tips about the city, especially Osmany, since the family still lives in Civitanova".
