Matteo Arnaldi's adventure at Roland Garros, the second slam of the season, begins with a victory. In fact, the Italian won on his debut against the host Arthur Fils with a score of 6-3 4-6 6-4 6-2, in a match in which the Italian managed to be more cynical in the decisive stages.
In the first set, after saving two break points in the third game, Arnaldi changed pace and snatched serve to zero in the sixth game, managing it until the final 6-3. The second partial è featured a series of breaks and counter-breaks between the third and sixth games. Benefiting from this back-and-forth è Fils, who took advantage of the blue's ugly 10th game to close out the set on 6-4 and bring himself back to parity.
In the third set, the seesaw of emotions continued and it was the Frenchman who placed the first acceleration in the second game. In the second round, Matteo Arnaldi will face France's Alexandre Muller, who eliminated Luca Nardi in his debut.
