Italy starred at Roland Garros and not only with Jannik Sinner. The day after the South Tyrolean man's debut victory, Flavio Cobolli, Giulio Zeppieri and Luciano Dardieri also advanced to the round, victorious against Hamad Međedović of Serbia, Adrian Mannarino of France and Rinky Hijikata of Australia.
Cobolli in particular won the first two sets 6-2 6-3, only to surrender in the tie-break of the third. It could have been the beginning of the end but a 6-1 è was worth success and qualification.
From red circles the comeback of Giulio Zeppieri who eliminated the number 22 seeded 4-6 6-2 6-1 6-2. It was all easy or almost easy for Luciano Darderi, overwhelming with a score of 6-3 7-6 6-2.
Completing the picture in the women’s field was Sara Errani who, after winning the doubles title at the Internazionali d'Italia and making it through the qualifiers, eliminated Anna Karolína Schmiedlová 6-3 6-2.
