Eddie Jordan absolves Max Verstappen and points finger at Lando Norris
Eddie Jordan exposes himself on the contact between Max Verstappen and Lando Norris
During a talk on the podcast "Formula for Success", Eddie Jordan è expressed himself bluntly about the contact between Max Verstappen and Lando Norris in the final laps of the Austrian GP, which led to the McLaren driver retiring. The Red Bull Dutchman, however, è was penalized ten seconds and finished the race in Spielberg in fifth place.
"Max è a fighter, a lion, and before you get into the ring with a lion like that; you have to make sure you are prepared for it. It was an incident that could have been easily avoided" began the Irish entrepreneur.
"In this dynamic è exactly as on everyday roads. Those who è in front have the right of way. He's been the fastest in qualifying and he's leading the Grand Prix. It is up to those behind (in this case Norris) to find a way to overtake 'by going around' the leader" added Eddie Jordan.
Post-race at the Gp d'Austria, Lando Norris did not è go easy on his Dutch rival-friend: "I had a good race, I expected a tough but fair battle, but it wasn't so. It's really hard to accept, also because I didn't make any mistakes. He changed his trajectory under braking three times out of three and on the third time he ruined my race. I really don’t think that with the contact I ruined the race for him. If the rules are not enforced I can’t do anything about it. I have to do my job and think about driving. As for my relationship with Max, it will depend on what he says: if he claims he did nothing wrong he will lose my respect, but if he admits he was stupid and in some ways unfair I might change my mind".
