Tour de France, Tadej Pogacar guesses winning attack on Galibier and returns to yellow
Tadej Pogacar redresses the yellow jersey
Stage and yellow jersey for Tadej Pogacar, the absolute protagonist of the fourth stage of the Tour de France, a stage that started from Pinerolo and guinta, after a 139.6-kilometer route that took the riders from Italy to France, to Valloire, after overcoming the difficult climb of the Col du Galibier.
It was precisely on the roads of the challenging Alpine pass that the Slovenian rider guessed the winning attack, and then further detached his rivals on the next descent and in the final section of the stage. No one è managed to keep up with the UAE Team Emirates rider: Remco Evenepoel (Soudal Quick-Step) finished second at 45", Jonas Vingegaard (Team Visma-Lease a Bike) è came third at 50".
Much further back was Richard Carapaz (EF Educa, who went into difficulty 6 kilometers from the end of the Galibier climb and lost the yellow jersey, handing it right back to Pogacar after having snatched it from him on Monday: the Slovenian had 45" over Evenepoel and 50" over Vingegaard (the three had the same time at the start), in a classification that saw Giulio Ciccone as the first of the Italians.
Lidl-Trek’s Teatino è finished ninth at the end of the stage, 2'41" behind Pogacar, and è ninth in the overall standings as well, trailing by 3'20". Wednesday marks the fifth stage of the Grande Boucle, from Saint-Jean-de-Maurienne to Saint-Vulbas, a stage without any particular difficulties with a probable sprint finish.
