Andrea Vavassori and Simone Bolelli straight out of Wimbledon
Vavassori and Bolelli eliminated
Andrea Vavassori and Simone Bolelli were defeated and thus eliminated in the first round of the doubles tournament at Wimbledon. The Azzurri, winners of the Halle ATP500 and finalists at Roland Garros, were decisively beaten in two sets by the pair formed by Finland’s Harri Heliovaara and Britain’s Henry Patten with a score of 6-3 6-4.
Vavassori and Bolelli still had their chances but did not take advantage of the break points given to them by their opponents. Having lost the first set, the two Italians, who will also participate in the Paris 2024 Olympics, took big risks at the start of the second.
Heliovaara and Patten were not able to take the lead right away but in the seventh game they snatched their service from their opponents again, mortgaging an important victory in front of the home crowd (at least for one of the two).
