The words of Matteo Berrettini

Matteo Berrettini spoke now late at night about the match he lost to Jannik Sinner: "I had fun, I felt proud to be playing against the number 1 in the world, on the Wimbledon Central, with millions of Italians watching us. È one of those matches that I will remember 20 years from now with a smile”.

“I played a great match against the world number 1, had so many chances. The level there’è, something I always believed but now I have proved. I am happy that I could only think about the match, not about injuries or my body. I am proud of myself, but also sad about the result”.

“At one point I got chills, I felt the audience going crazy. This is unparalleled, thinking about the time when I could not see the results becauseé I was suffering to be outside. Tennis è complex, you have to be good at evaluating emotions and bring out something good”.

Last line on Jannik Sinner: “We congratulated each other and I told him that this Wimbledon he has to go get it. I think he missed three balls in the whole match and didn’t give me oxygen. I expected a solid player, he surprised me but I also surprised myself with the level I played at. Jannik is improving every day, his talent is there’è always has been but his ability to read the match is growing by leaps and bounds. È one of the reasons why è number 1”.
