Davis Thompson triumphs at John Deere Classic

Davis Thompson of the United States triumphed at the John Deere Classic with a record score of -28 (256), thus nominating himself as one of the favorites for the next major, the British Open, which begins in two weeks.
In the fight for second place, Taiwan’s C.T. Pan finished tied with Americans Luke Clanton and Michael Thorbjornsen with a score of -24. Pan earned a spot in the British Open due to his position in the world rankings.
In the final rankings, in the top 10 in seventh position with -21 were the U.S. Denny McCarthy, Andrew Novak, Hayden Springer, Eric Cole, and England's Aaron Rai.
With this victory, Thompson è awarded himself a $1.44 million prize, also securing a place at The Open at Royal Troon and next April’s Masters in his native Georgia. The victory allowed him to climb up the FedExCup standings to 22nd place.
