In front of 2515 spectators at the Wanny Palace (takings of 39,190 euros) Julio Velasco’s Azzurri were beaten in a friendly match 2-3 (25-21, 20-25, 25-22, 18-25, 9-15) by Serbia. For the tricolor national team it was the last test in Italy before the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. On Wednesday, the two teams will undergo a joint training session behind closed doors.
Tuesday evening’s match saw the Azzurri win the first set, while in the second it was the guests who prevailed. In the third set the tricolor national team è returned to impose their game, but in the fourth and tie-break Serbia held the ball in their hands. Among the Azzurri the best scorer è was Paola Egonu with 20 points, ahead of Ekaterina Antropova (15 points).
Top scorer of the’match Tijana Boskovic with 24 points, among the Serbs also worth mentioning are the performances of Uzelac 19 p. and Aleksic 18 p. The Balkan team won the match in the wall (14 to 11) and in the serve (7 aces to 5), committing fewer errors than Italy: 26 in total, compared to 33 Azzurri. Italy lined up on the court with Orro on the dribble, opposite Egonu, setters Sylla and C. Bosetti, center Danesi and Fahr, libero De Gennaro.
