Dream Team starts with success: victory with Canada
At the T-Mobile Arena present 20,756 spectators
The Dream Team’s march toward the Paris Olympics begins with a success. The U.S. national team won the friendly test against Canada (86-72), played at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, in front of 20,756 spectators. Coach Kerr’s team did not particularly shine but hinted at its enormous potential.
Still packed from so many workloads (and with Durant forced to watch his teammates play due to a muscle strain), the Dream Team stars still gave a decent showing. Great was the contribution of Edwards, probably the one most on the ball of the entire group (13 final points for the Minnesota star).
"On offense, to be honest, we were pretty terrible. But we still tried to do the right things. We are in good shape if the problem è the offense…. What worked great è was the defense", the words of Davis (10 points and 11 rebounds off the bench), one of the many All Stars at Coach Kerr’s disposal.
"A good first competition for us. We are just getting started, with only four days of practice. We è saw rust on offense. We had a lot of turnovers in the first half but I appreciated the defensive intensity and good rebounding work. It was a good first effort", the comment of Kerr himself, pleased with how his players approached the game.
