Ferrari, Adrian Newey further away: the Cavallino’s rivals accelerate

The big dream seems to be receding.

Adrian Newey at Ferrari is in danger of not materializing. The brilliant engineer who signed the winning Red Bulls of recent years (but also those of Sebastian Vettel in the early '10s) is looking for a new team for 2025, after collecting triumphs already in the '90s with first Williams and then McLaren. The possibility of his landing in Maranello has long been discussed, which forò seems increasingly complex.

'Eurosport' has picked up on rumors leaking out of England, according to which by now Ferrari would be third in the particular ranking of Newey’s suitors. The Cavallino would in fact have been overtaken in the course of weeks not only by Aston Martin (which appears at the moment to be the favorite to hire him), but also by McLaren itself.

British rumors report that Newey has not only already visited Aston Martin headquarters, but is already evaluating the offer presented to him by Lawrence Stroll’s team. There is talk of pharaonic figures, which Ferrari would have no intention of exceeding by not wanting to slip into a potentially fruitless and nerve-racking auction. McLaren, on the other hand, would represent a fascinating challenge for the engineer and a stimulating return to the past.

Still no one involved has officially commented on the negotiations, but British sources say they are confident that contacts between Newey and Ferrari have indeed taken place, but also that the creator of Max Verstappen’s Red Bull would even reject the current offer put on the plate by the Maranello team.
